Two tribal groups will carry on cleaning up contaminated Lake Horowhenua near Levin, despite another restoration initiative partially funded by the Government.
Muaupoko and Ngati Pareraukawa formed a joint working party last year and have already made a start on fixing problems at the lake.
In total, nearly $1.3 million has been put aside by five entities - including the Government - for cleanup projects.
Working party chair Whatarangi Winiata says its own efforts at the lake will complement the other spruce-up plan, though in future there could be an opportunity for collaborating on some projects.
Mr Winiata makes it clear that Muaupoko and Ngati Pareraukawa are funding their own initiatives.
