The Minister for Primary Industries has warned tougher baby formula safeguards at supermarkets are likely to be permanent following the threat to contaminate formula with 1080 poison.
Nathan Guy said he hoped police would eventually find the people behind the threat.
But Mr Guy says in the meantime the precautions supermarkets have taken to ensure the safety of baby formula will become the new normal.
"All of those retailers needs to realise that they need to take these extra security measures into the future. So that's something that Government agencies are working very closely with retailers on."
