A motion of no confidence against Tuvalu's prime minister, Enele Sopoaga, has been withdrawn.

The MP Isaia Taape, who could not be reached for comment, withdrew the motion in parliament on Wednesday.

He filed it on the same day as the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres visited the atoll state.

Tuvalu is due to hold an election later this year.
