The husband of the Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel has died after a battle with cancer.

Rob Davidson, a lawyer, was 69.
His son Mike Davidson is also a Christchurch city councillor.
Dalziel took leave in July due to her husband's health.
Acting Mayor Andrew Turner said the news has saddened council staff and councillors.
