Communications Minister Amy Adams has revealed she does not know how many households the Government expects to have access to ultra-fast broadband by 2016.
Labour MP David Cunliffe asked Ms Adams at Parliament's commerce select committee how many households there were in the country and, therefore, how many to the nearest hundred thousand could expect to get access to ultra-fast broadband.
Ms Adams said she did not know but was happy with the Government's aim of getting 75% of households access to ultra-fast broadband.
While officials from the Minister of Economic Development didn't know either, Mr Cunliffe estimated there were 2 million households in the country and on that basis he presumed the Government's aim was to get ultra-fast broadband to 1.5 million.
