Samoa's government looking to full consultation over proposed stimulus package

14:44 pm on 27 March 2009

Samoa's Deputy Prime Minister, Misa Telefoni, says the government wants a thorough discussion to take place before approving a stimulus package.

The Samoa Observer reports that in a statement issued ahead of the economic summit scheduled tomorrow , Mr Telefoni said the Government is determined not to rush into a stimulus package, as many other countries have done, only to have their hastily conceived policies fail miserably.

The summit will allow full consultation with the whole private sector,- including the Council of Churches, the umbrella NGO organisation, the Chamber of Commerce, manufacturers, exporters and the tourism, farming and fishing industry.

He said the outcomes of this summit will be given to Cabinet for consideration.
