The Whangārei District Council is urging residents to continue conserving water, even though restrictions have been lifted.
The area's dams have finally reached manageable levels, after one of the driest summers on record.
But the council's water services manager Andrew Venmore said they were still 10 percent lower than normal and people should only use what they needed.
He said the community had done a fantastic job at conserving water throughout the restrictions.
Below-average rainfall is forecast for the next few months in Whangārei, but Venmore said there should be enough in the dams to last until summer.
