There has finally been some progress in deciding the future of a newly constructed office block in central Christchurch.
An Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment assessment done over a year ago, found the eight storey high rise at 230 High Street, failed to comply with the building code.
That was despite it having already been signed off by the Christchurch City Council.
Over a year later, the council now said it had received another engineer's report from the owner which it was reviewing, and "seeking expert advice on".
It said it was looking to meet with the owner, Soung Joon Kim, in the next month or so.
A council spokesperson said the building did not present an "immediate public safety issue".
