The Prime Minister can't put a timeframe on when his government's law and order policies will start to reduce the number of crime victims.
Christopher Luxon announced changes to the Sentencing Act on Monday.
The reforms included a limit on how much and how frequently judges can discount sentences.
It comes as it was revealed the government was at risk of not meeting two of its public service targets, regarding education and reducing violent crime .
