Three New Zealanders, headlined by Olympic bronze medallist Hayden Wilde, have recorded top 10 finishes at the World Triathlon Championship Series event in Montreal.
Wilde has faded on the final 2km run to finish sixth in the men's final.
He crossed the line 16 seconds behind the winner, Frenchman Dorian Coninx, while fellow Tokyo Olympian Tayler Reid finished a further 17 seconds back in eighth.
Their New Zealand teammate Nicole van der Kaay earlier finished ninth in the women's final.
Montreal saw the debut of the 'eliminator' format with each final consisting of three races over a super-sprint course; featuring a 300m swim, a 7.2km bike and a 2km run.
Wilde headed off a big bunch to finish first in stage one of the men's final, with Reid 17th of 30 starters to progress to stage two.
Reid was in the leading group out of the swim in the second leg of the final and came home fourth ahead of Wilde in sixth, with both securing a place in the top 10 medal race.
It is Tayler Reid's first top 10 at a WTCS event and has seen him jump 18 places to 19th in the overall rankings.
Hayden Wilde's risen one place to fourth overall after his second top 10 of the season.
Nicole van der Kaay has vaulted 25 places to 28th in the women's rankings.
Van der Kaay crossed the line one minute and four seconds behind the women's winner, Olympic champion Flora Duffy of Bermuda.
She had finished fourth in the first stage of the final and ninth in the second stage to advance to the top 10 medal race.
Compatriot Ainsley Thorpe was unable to progress from the first stage of the women's final, finishing 26th.
They all have less than 24 hours to recover before they combine for the mixed team relay on Monday morning (NZT).
