Cooks to conform with EU tax transparency

The Cook Islands has committed to changing legislation to meet European Union aims around international tax transparency.

The finance minister Mark Brown has advised the EU Code of Conduct Group of this commitment.

He said it was further proof that the Cook Islands was at the forefront of introducing anti-tax base erosion measures.

The EU is concerned that countries with differential tax regimes have an unfair business advantage over countries with uniform taxes, for those who operate within their borders.
