Bunnings has temporarily closed its Mt Roskill store in Auckland because of concerns about the carpark's ability to withstand an earthquake.
In a statement, the company says engineers raised concerns around the seismic resilience of the carpark.
"We're sorry to have to close the store until further notice but we have to make sure our stores are safe for team and customers and we thank customers for their understanding," said its New Zealand director Jacqui Coombes.
"We are making sure our team are looked after during this time and we will redeploy them to nearby stores or offer individual options that work for them."
She said the store will be closed until further notice while the company works through next steps with its landlord and engineers.
Bunnings customers and the community will be updated as soon as possible, Coombes said.
