Some roads in central Wellington were closed and police were out in force today as a large anti-government protest gathered at Parliament.
Extra police were called in from outside the Wellington police district.
The action was organised by a group associated with Destiny Church.
Its leader, Brian Tamaki, said he had created a party called Freedoms New Zealand, which was about to be registered as a political party, though he would not be standing himself.
The protest had begun to wind down by mid-afternoon on Tuesday.
