Her Clyde Road home, worth more than $3 million, was where suffragists collected thousands of signatures in a petition for women to gain the right to vote.

The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, said the government is interested in making an offer to purchase the building to preserve its history.

She said negotiations were underway.

Celebrations for the 125-year anniversary of women being given the vote begin tomorrow.
