Dozens of student activists marched in the Indonesian capital on Thursday to demand the self-determination for West Papua.
SBS reports that the protesters held signs and shouted slogans demanding the West Papua region be freed, the closure of the Freeport gold mine, and that Indonesian police and military personnel leave the region.
The protest marked the anniversary of the UN's Act of Free Choice in 1969 by which Indonesia gained control of West Papua.
The two hour rally was watched over by dozens of dozens of police.
