A second man has been charged with murder following the death of Robert Nattie Albert in Lake Horowhenua's Muaūpoko Park.

Albert, 56, was found dead in a building at the park on 17 October and last week a 23-year-old man was charged with his murder.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thompson said as part of the investigation into Albert's death two search warrants were carried out in Levin on Tuesday.

A 40-year-old man was found at one of the houses searched along with a cut-down firearm.

The man will appear in Levin District Court on Wednesday facing charges of murder and unlawful possession of a pistol.
