Entertainer Tiki Taane has pleaded not guilty to a charge of disorderly behaviour likely to cause violence.
The police arrested the entertainer after hearing him sing an anti-police rap song while they were inspecting a Tauranga nightclub's premises in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Taane was excused from appearing in the Tauranga District Court on Friday because of a previous engagement and his lawyer made the plea on his behalf.
The case returns to court at the end of 30 May.
