Man U back on top after win over Spurs

15:47 pm on 25 April 2010

Two penalties to Ryan Giggs and a sublime Nani chip have given the English football champions Manchester United a 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford and a two-point lead over Chelsea in the Premier League.

England striker Wayne Rooney sat out the match and may miss the end of the season with a groin injury.

Chelsea will reclaim top spot if they beat Stoke City at home on Monday.

Manchester City were unable to capitalise on Spurs' defeat at Old Trafford - City were held to a nil-all draw at Arsenal and are now a point behind Spurs in the race for a Champions League place.

At the other end of the table, West Ham moved six points clear of the relegation zone with a come from behind 3-2 win at home to Wigan.

Hull are all but relegated after visitors Sunderland won 1-0, leaving the hosts six points adrift with two games to play and a massively inferior goal difference

New Zealand captain Ryan Nelsen scored with his knee in his Blackburn Rovers' 1-1 draw at Wolves while already relegated Portsmouth drew 2-2 at Bolton Wanderers.
