14:46 pm on 21 October 2014

The health centre in the Northern Marianas has conducted a drill to prepare its staff in case the deadly Ebola virus reaches the CNMI.

The chief executive officer at the Commonwealth Health Center, Esther Muna, says they started planning to hold the exercise immediately on the confirmation of an active Ebola case in Texas.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has guidelines on developing protocols and the drill provided an opportunity for medical staff and administration to evaluate the needs of the hospital.

The process is to ensure the containment of the infectious disease, safety of the staff, other patients and the entire community.
