A woman is in a stable condition in Waikato Hospital after being hit by a car she had just fled.
A person was reported to have been hit by a Mazda 6 sedan in the Hamilton suburb of Fairfield about 7.15pm on Tuesday night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Neilson said the woman had been trying to run from the car, but was picked up after the incident and taken away.
The injured woman and the male driver knew each other, and the victim was later found and taken to hospital, he said.
Police appealed for the man to come forward.
