A pedestrian is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Christchurch.
Earlier in the day Riccarton Rd was closed to motorists between Deans and Mona Vale avenues. It has now reopened.
Emergency Services were called about the incident just before 3.30pm on Tuesday.
A St John spokesperson said one person was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition.
An ambulance and two rapid response vehicles were sent to the collision.
Police were at the scene investigating the crash..
"Police are making further enquiries to determine the circumstances of the crash," a statement said.
