Actor, writer, comedian, director and social media star Tom Sainsbury is back with his friends and they’re Camping.
First performed eight years ago at the Basement Theatre, Sainsbury, Chris Parker, Kura Forrester and Brynley Stent play two couples who’ve double booked the same holiday accommodation. Sainsbury and Forrester’s characters have been married for 25 years while Parker and Stent play newlyweds. Each brings their own baggage and, as you’d expect, hilarity ensues.
The group are reuniting with an extended version of this play to close out Silo Theatre’s programme for the year, performing at Q Theatre until 7 December.
Sainsbury joins Culture 101 for Fast Favourites. For the past five years, he’s been endeavouring to watch 365 films from the past 50 years. Among his favourites: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, His Girl Friday and My Neighbour Totoro. Sainsbury has also recently discovered the work of surrealist painter and composer Brent Wong which he describes as both calming and dystopian. For television, he recommends Camp Be Better, currently streaming on TVNZ+ and RNZ’s podcast, Black Sheep.
