The Foundation for Arable Research (FAR) has found a simple, at-home test can help farmers know exactly how much fertliser to apply. Diana Mathers from FAR says the Quick Strip nitrogen test means soil samples don't need to be sent off to the lab and, for about $2 a test, a farmer will quickly be able to see out how much nitrogen is in the soil and if it needs a top up.
