Man accused of stabbing officer named

The man accused of stabbing an Auckland police officer in the face can now be named.

Police claim Brett Curtis Mann, 38, stabbed Constable Todd Martin with a long bladed knife and threatened three other officers in Orakei on 7 October.

He appeared in the Auckland District Court on Tuesday morning, facing three charges of assault and one of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Name suppression has been lifted, and Mr Mann has been remanded in custody to undergo further psychiatric assessment.
