There is one new case of Covid-19 in New Zealand's managed isolation and quarantine facilities today, as the Ministry of Health announces a move to reduce its reporting frequency.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health said there was one new case to report today, a person who tested positive after arriving from the UK via Hong Kong on 4 December.
There were no new community cases to report, it said.
The ministry said the new case brought active cases to 56 and total confirmed cases to 1723.
Laboratories processed 2315 tests yesterday, bringing total tests to 1,312,307.
The ministry said that cases were routinely appearing at the border, and this was expected to continue under alert level 1.
It said that starting Wednesday, it would be reducing the frequency of its case reporting to four days a week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday - with numbers to be updated on the ministry's website.
The ministry would report the numbers as a total since the previous update.
In the case of any significant development - including new cases emerging in the community - the public would be notified sooner if required, the ministry said.
Yesterday, there were no new cases of Covid-19 in the country.
