Briscoe Group says third quarter sales rose 4.5 percent fuelled by surging sales at Rebel Sport.
Sales of $103.5 million dollars for the 13 weeks ended October the 26th took nine-month sales to nearly $340 million, up nearly 6 percent.
Managing director Rod Duke said the market continued to demand aggressive promotional activity to drive sales but his company's gross profits were still growing faster than its sales.
He explained why the Briscoes sales hit a weaker patch in the third quarter, growing less than 3 percent.
"Our third quarter, regrettably encapsulates both the back-end of winter and the front-end of summer."
"If you recall, the back-end of winter was actually quite warm and beautiful and the beginning of summer, which we traditionally get part-way through October running into Labour Day, was actually quite chilly, I had to have my electric blanket on again last night in Auckland, he said.
Mr Duke said this year's annual result should easily exceed last year's $33.6 million profit.
