A huge fire has swept through a temple in southern India, killing at least 75 people and injuring 200 others gathered for a fireworks display to mark the start of the Hindu new year.

Thousands of people were packed into the temple and the narrow lanes around it in Kollam, in the southern state of Kerala.

A fire cracker fell on a shed where fireworks were stored, setting off the deadly blaze in the temple.
