Guam's Visitors Bureau says more than 1.5 million people visited the island in 2018, the most in Guam's history.

It says December was also Guam's busiest month ever, with more than 146,000 visitors arriving.

The Visitors Bureau credits the record-breaking figures with an increase in flights to Guam.

There was also a significant boost in arrivals from Japan, Hong Kong and Russia.

The bureau's president, Nathan Denight, says he hopes Guam will welcome 1.6 million people this year.
