People evacuated after Timaru gas leak

Some people had to be evacuated after a gas leak at a business near Timaru.

Three fire crews were called to Sheffield Street in Washdyke at twenty to two this morning 1.45am after reports of a discharge of carbon dioxide.

A Fire and Emergency spokesman said firefighters worked for two hours to locate the leak, isolate it and disperse the gas.
