Fiji's international flag carrier Air Pacific is pursuing talks with New Caledonia's Air Calédonie International, dubbed AirCalin on a code share agreement on the Japanese destination, after Air Pacific's direct flights ended last week.
The Oceania Flash reports New Caledonia, one of Japan's favourite destinations for honeymooners, is maintaining a route there, via AirCalin.
Fiji's Roving Ambassador Ross Ligairi says Air Pacific Has been engaged with talks with AirCalin on a code share arrangement on the Nadi-Noumea-Narita flights.
Mr Ligairi says the option is a code share service with AirCalin through Nouméa to Narita, for example one stop, and not a service which goes direct from Nadi.
He says ongoing surveys and research by Air Pacific of the international tourism market have shown demand for the Fiji/Japan route has continued to fall.
