Five teenagers have been arrested after a series of burglaries and a crash in Pukekohe.

Police were alerted at 2.55am to a forced entry into three stores on King Street.

A car seen leaving the area failed to stop for police and the Eagle helicopter was called in to monitor the vehicle.

The car failed to take a corner and crashed into a tree on Paparata Road, Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Paea said.

Five occupants aged from 13 to 16 were taken into custody and assessed ambulance staff at the scene.

Further north, three teenagers were arrested following the attempted burglary of a dairy in Papatoetoe.

Police received a report of a vehicle attempting to force entry into a dairy on Carruth Road about 3.10am.

Several people tried to breach the roller door and smash their way in but were unsuccessful, Paea said.

A vehicle fleeing the scene failed to stop and was monitored by the Eagle helicopter as it travelled to Ōtara.

Police arrested three people aged between 15 and 17.
