The New Zealand Government has told the International Rugby Board it will not relax its ban on members of the Fiji military entering the country for the Rugby World Cup.
IRB chief executive Mike Miller is in New Zealand to mark 100 days to the tournament opens on Wednesday and was briefed on the Fiji situation by Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully.
The minister says the IRB does not want the ban to affect the make-up of teams playing in the tournament, but says Mr Miller understands who enters the country is a matter for the Government.
Mr McCully says he is happy to talk about a way forward on the Fiji sanctions, but the Government's policy is clear, and there will be no change unless there is change towards democracy in Fiji.
