The New Zealand International Film Festival will open next weekend in Christchurch.
The opening night on Friday at the Isaac Theatre Royal will feature Dame Jane Campion's new work The Power of the Dog which recently did well at the Venice Film Festival.
It was to take place in Auckland, however ongoing Covid-19 restrictions made it impossible.
Festival chair Catherine Fitzgerald said this was the most star-studded lineup of flicks the festival had ever shown.
"Because really we're bringing films from two years of the major festivals of the world because last year most of those films weren't available to us because we were screening online. And so this year we've got an amazing lineup."
With the need for social distancing and a reduced capacity, Fitzgerald urged punters to book ahead.
