SFO investigation into mining company ends

15:09 pm on 3 November 2011

The Serious Fraud Office has ended its investigation into an Australian exploration and mining company, despite finding evidence of possible offending.

The SFO started investigating Greywolf Resources in June after the Ministry of Economic Development rejected several applications for exploration permits due to a lack of financial information.

The SFO's chief executive, Adam Feeley, says there were doubts about the validity of some of the documents provided, but it would have to go overseas to investigate further.

Mr Feeley says pursuing the matter wouldn't be worthwhile, given the practical and jurisdictional challenges of Greywolf being based overseas.
