The body of Raymond Harold King, 51, was found in a sleepout behind the house in the suburb of Trentham on Saturday morning.

Detective Sergeant Tony Heathcote says a burning candle may have caused the blaze.

He says a family of two adults and six children lived at the house and Mr King was a boarder, who lived in the sleepout.

Two children and an adult were taken to hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation, but have since been discharged.

The death has been referred to the coroner.
