Following an eight-month investigation, searches were carried out across Northland, Auckland and Christchurch this week.

An estimated 5kg of methamphetamine, three firearms and associated ammunition, and about $100,000 cash were seized.

Six men and one women, aged from 18 to 52, with reported links to the Head Hunter and King Cobra gangs, were arrested.

They face a total of 50 charges including manufacture and supply of the Class A controlled drug methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm, and participating in an organised criminal group.

Police said the operation dismantled a large methampetamine laboratory in the Far North, and uncovered a significant drug dealing network centred in the Northland and Auckland regions.

They are not ruling out further arrests as the investigation continues.
