The Supreme Court in Sydney has ordered Tonga's Free Wesleyan Church to sell off five properties in Australia to pay a huge debt.

Radio Tonga reports that the church has been told to auction the properties within a week.

The debt has been accrued by the construction of a new church, Pulela'a, in the Sydney suburb of Mt Druitt.

Tongans donated thousands for the church but millions more was borrowed.

The Tonga Free Wesleyan Church has been told by the Supreme Court to pay the debt of about ten million US dollars by selling off three other churches - two in Melbourne and one in Brisbane - plus two homes used by ministers in Sydney.
