The Fiji rugby league team has been given nearly 61 thousand US dollars to help prepare for the World Cup in Australia.

The funding follows approval from the country's interim government for the side's preparation for the competition starting on the 25th October to 22nd November.

Ten teams will contest the World Cup with Papua New Guinea in the pool of death alongside England, New Zealand and Australia.

Fiji is in pool B with France and Scotland while Tonga and Samoa are drawn in pool C with Ireland.
