The Silver Ferns defender Katrina Grant has been given a suspended two match ban after becoming embroiled in a heated post match debate with an umpire at a recent trans-Tasman netball match.
The Pulse captain was cited after she followed umpire Jono Bredin off court seeking an explanation for a penalty that susequently led to the Southern Steel scoring a goal right on fulltime, to draw their round 12 match.
The ANZ Championship disciplinary officer has warned Grant about her future conduct and issued with a 2 match ban which is suspended and only brought to account if she is found guilty of misconduct again in the next 12 months.
A statement from the Trans-Tasman League says Grant's exemplary playing record, no applicable prior disciplinary record and remorse was taken into consideration when issuing the sanction.
Grant said "my behaviour was unacceptable. I allowed my emotions and the significance of the game to get the better of me.
"The process has been fair and I accept the findings of the hearing. It's been a tough few days for everyone and I'm just glad I can put it behind me now and concentrate on leading my team during Sunday's game against the Thunderbirds," she said.
