Bahrain accepts cancelled Grand Prix

Bahrain Grand Prix organisers have accepted the cancellation of their postponed Formula One race after teams objected to it being rescheduled in October.

Circuit chairman Zayed Alzayani says they fully respect the decision.

The season-opening grand prix was called off because of civil unrest in Bahrain and F1 bosses had hoped to run it at the end of the season, until the teams objected.

Formula One's governing body is blaming commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone for the furore.

In a letter to the Formula One teams body FOTA, International Automobile Federation president Jean Todt recognised their concerns and made clear that Ecclestone was responsible for setting the calendar and submitting it.
