There were tears. There was laughter. And there was reflection. About one-hundred people gathered at the National War Memorial in Wellington for the Vietnam Veterans Day service yesterday. More than 3-thousand New Zealanders served in Vietnam from 1964 to 1972. Thirty-nine of them lost their lives, while scores of others were injured. On a chilly, fresh day, surviving soldiers and their families, gathered to pay their respects. Our defence reporter, Jonathan Mitchell, spoke to Denis Montgomery, who vividly remembers what it was like.
