Niue Tourism has rejected claims that bottled water due to be exported from the island has not been properly tested.
Concerns were raised by local MP Terry Coe over high levels of calcium in the aquifer and calls were made for further testing of the water.

Niue Tourism's chief executive Felicity Bollen said testing has already been done.
In a statement, she said the independent New Zealand laboratory RJ Hill conducted tests in March and found that the water met safe drinking guidelines set by the New Zealand Ministry of Health.
She said plans for exporting bottled Niue water will go ahead, with the first shipments due in New Zealand and American markets in December.
