Air Pacific announces expansion

09:27 am on 3 September 2003

Fiji's international airline, Air Pacific, has announced major long-term extension plans to include the opening of new routes to South East Asia and increased capacity to North America.

The Daily Post reports that the plans will become possible when the airline takes delivery of its new Airbus fleet from next year.

The airline's chief executive, John Campbell, says they will provide more than two million seats into Fiji by the year 2007 and he's calling for hotel operators to increase top-class accommodation.

Airline industry sources say Air Pacific's investment in its new fleet of Boeings and an Airbus aircraft will only pay off if Fiji's tourism chain make a similar commitment.
