The prime minister, opposition leader and other political leaders have spoken from the paepae in Tūrangawaewae at Koroneihana.
A celebration of the Māori King's coronation at Tūrangawaewae marae in Ngāruawāhia, the Koroneihana began on Friday - also marking 18 years since the death of the Māori Queen Dame Te Atairangikāhu.
The celebrations will continue through the week, but Monday is the most political - with politicians expected to speak at a pōwhiri. The Kiingitanga will speak first, followed by government and opposition politicians.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Labour leader Chris Hipkins spoke, as well as Māori-Crown Relations Minister Tama Potaka (National) and Labour's spokesperson Peeni Henare. Both are fluent reo Māori speakers.
Senior NZ First MP Shane Jones also spoke, as did MP Tākuta Ferris for Te Pāti Māori and Greens co-leader Chloe Swarbrick on behalf of her party.
ACT leader David Seymour will not be attending, with some dispute about whether or not the party was invited.
