A taskforce from the caucus of New Zealand's opposition Labour party will next week visit Tuvalu and Kiribati.
Labour's Pacific Climate Change spokesperson Su'a William Sio said the delegation will meet with the Tuvalu and Kiribati governments and communities in a fact finding mission with a focus on climate change.
Su'a said the taskforce will also talk to a range of people on the ground including students and young adults about how they're coping with climate change, and their hopes and dreams for the future of their homelands.
He said the taskforce will also explore policy ideas that the Pacific nations have in relation to climate change, including about migration with dignity.
The MP said the visit and future climate change missions are an important step towards repairing a credible New Zealand voice in the Pacific on climate change.
