The number of international students with visas in New Zealand has beaten previous records this autumn, immigration statistics show.
More than 93,000 students held visas in March, the highest total since records began in 2006.
Foreign student numbers have been above 80,000 since 2015.
That compared to a low of 51,000 student visa holders in April 2008.
The Labour Party yesterday unveiled policies to cut immigration by between 20,000 and 30,000 a year, with low-quality education courses one of their specific targets.
International student enrolments rose by 6 percent last year to 131,609.
