NZ pavilion drew 218,000 at Venice event

Creative New Zealand says 218,000 people visited the New Zealand pavilion at the Venice Biennale during the six month exhibition event.

Front Door Out Back is the work of sculptor, photographer and installation artist Bill Culbert at the exhibition of contemporary art.

Creative New Zealand says the dazzling light installations drew close to 2000 visitors per day during the opening week alone.

The Venice Biennale has featured a New Zealand exhibit since 2001. It closed late last month.

Creative New Zealand invested $650,000 into Front Door Out Back.
