Police have renewed their appeal for people who were in locations of interest on the day of a fatal bus stabbing in Auckland to come forward.

Bernice Louise Marychurch was attacked on a bus in Onehunga on Wednesday last week.

Detective Inspector Alisse Robertson said police wanted to hear from people who were in certain areas of Onehunga and Panmure that day.

They were working to establish Marychurch's movements on the day she died.

The locations include several bus stops and Woolworths Onehunga on 23 October.

Auckland City acting district commander Sunny Patel said officers had increased patrols around major public transport locations in the city since the attack.

"We know the community is understandably shaken following this horrific incident and we are committed to ensuring people feel safe in our city.

"People should be free to use public transport without fear."
