Unexplained North Shore man's death referred to coroner

The unexplained death of a man on Auckland's North Shore on Friday afternoon has been referred to the coroner.

The man was found unconscious on Stafford Road in Northcote Point, at the entrance to a walkway through to Alfred Street.

A member of the public found the man shortly before 1:30pm.

Police said medical assistance was provided but he died at the scene.

They said nothing suspicious was found during a post-mortem examination on Saturday.

The police will continue to make enquiries on behalf of the coroner.
