New Zealand equestrian Andrew Nicholson and Avebury have stormed into the lead at the Burghley Horse Trials in England, and the world number two is poised to win the title for a record third successive year.
Nicholson leads Australia's Sam Griffiths on Happy Times by 3.7 penalty points heading into the all-important showjumping phase.
Team-mate Jock Paget and Clifton Promise have slipped to fourth after the cross-country.
